   Russia: The Final Visa Information!

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and thinking about visa again! We almost have all the plans done. The Visa will be procured next week at Kiev, Ukraine.

The last 20 posts are on this front page. So if you just read this first page only, you will have seen a side of Russia that many have not seen.

We have decided to take a train and save a lot of money. Boza is staying home and a very nice lady (Galina) who Boza loves to get soup bones from, is going to spend a week with him. So Boza gets to stay in the comfort of his home.

We on the other hand are going on a 11-12 hour train trip to Kiev. I have to be out of Russia by the 1st of October. I wish all readers to have a good couple of weeks while I get my paperwork in order.

Who knows what wild stories we may have after we get back!!!

========================================

This a list of Blogs to help keep you busy while We are gone. Once again these are Blogs that are Clean cut. The have important facts and thoughts. They all have their strengths that make them enjoyable! Give them all a try and tell them Kyle and Svet sent you.

   Russia: Tank Museum, Kubinka, Russia!

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and thinking about getting the Visa. Then I thought about this wonderful Museum in Russia. LINK: http://www.tankmuseum.ru/

The reason I thought about this place was that I need one of these Tanks to survive the Russian and Ukraine drivers on the trip we are taking.

If I had the bottom right tank, They would get out of my way. :)

Just take a visit. They even give rides on Tanks.

10 Things to Know about Moscow

Hello,

I thought this might give you something to read while We are gone on the Visa Run. The top ten things to know about Moscow. Starting with number 10!

========================================

10. Do not waste your time in Moscow trying to understand the line (queue) system. The very best anthropologists and sociologists have failed to make sense of Russian lines and you probably will too. It is only necessary that you understand the protocol for standing in lines. In the grocery stores, for example, things have become relatively sane, with people lining up single file with their shopping carts just like in the West. But if you must visit a doctor, a lawyer, or god forbid a bureaucrat, you will feel like you have just landed on Mars. When Russians enter a place that demands a line, they ask in a loud voice, "Kto posledniy?" (Who is the last fool here?). Russians hate lines more than anybody, I would guess, so there has evolved an elaborate system of leaving lines to attend to other things, like maybe to go stand in other lines. But before Russians exit the line, they ask the person immediately behind them to save their spot. Do you follow me? So when you enter the visa registration office with a pile of papers to be signed, you may think there are only 30 people ahead of you, only to discover 10 hours later that there is actually triple that amount. This curious phenomenon tends to make people who don't understand what is going on outright violent, because nothing bothers us more than line cutters - especially at the visa office.

9. Zebra Crossings are for Zebras. Do not assume that cars, trucks, scooters, commercial jets or other wheeled modes of transportation will stop, or even slow down, in the zebra pedestrian walks. If you are a zebra, for example, or any other animal that weighs more than the approaching vehicle, the driver may actually apply the brakes. Otherwise, ‘zebra walks' are still largely an optional affair for drivers. Note: Moscow just passed strict road regulations for drivers, but still, better to play it safe.

8. Use the underground and aboveground passages. Never, ever attempt to cross a 4-lane road in Moscow without the benefit of a traffic light, or perekhod, that is, an underground or aboveground passageway that takes pedestrians out of harm's way. The Moscow authorities seem to be aware of the massive traffic problems in the city and are constructing these passages everywhere. The latest one straddles 8-lane Leningradsky Prospekt, the eternally clogged artery that goes to Sheremetyevo Airport.

7. Bring your gold with you. An American friend of mine, after spending a few days in Moscow, asked his tour agent why they advised him not to wear his gold watch when strolling the streets of Moscow. When they told him it was not safe here, he replied, "The fruit sellers in the bazaars have more gold in their teeth than I've got in my safe!" I guess that sums it up.

6. The Russians will not eat you; they generally prefer chicken. Moreover, many Russians these days have become sophisticated vegetarians. Russians - despite the lingering stereotypes that took root during the Cold War years - are friendly, intelligent, and may even want to strike up a conversation if they discover that you are an exotic inostranets (foreigner). The chances are extremely high - knock on wood - that you will live to tell fabulous stories about your trip to Moscow. Just use common sense, as anywhere.

5. Before visiting Moscow, brush up on your native novelists. For example, Jack London, Jack Kerouac and Ernest Hemingway. The Russians are (still) voracious readers, and I am ashamed to admit that the first time I heard of O. Henry was in Moscow. At the same time, be prepared to utter some niceties about the famous Russian writers - Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, Bulgakov and Nabokov. And don't even think of visiting Russia unless you are somewhat acquainted with the works of Alexander Pushkin (His statue, which has become the most popular meeting place in the capital, sits on Pushkin Square across from one of the largest McDonald's franchises in the world and the first to appear in Russia. Ask to pay your respects to Pushkin first before requesting a Big Tasty. Big bonus points if you lay a flower on his pedestal).

4. Always remove your shoes when entering a Russian household. Unlike in glorious nation America, there are germs and - despite new dog-walking regulations - even the occasional pile of doggy-doo on the streets. Furthermore, female horse riders get supreme satisfaction by trotting their beasts of burden through the center of the city, creating masterpieces on the sidewalks that even Great Danes envy.

3. Lack of bears on Red Square. It is true; I have seen it with my own eyes: there are no bears on Red Square (!). The most dangerous thing you will experience here are the persistent and occasionally hairy souvenir sellers.

2. Russians are super superstitious. Here is the short-list: Do not present a person with an even amount of flowers - yes, odd; do not present any sort of cutlery or handkerchiefs as gifts; do not shake hands with a person through a doorframe; do not whistle indoors; do not make toasts to babies that are not yet born; do not place an empty bottle on the table top; do not celebrate anniversaries early; do not celebrate your 40th birthday. But go ahead and open your wet umbrella indoors!

1. Do not miss a trip to the Kremlin grounds. Many people make the long trek to Moscow yet never see Cathedral Square, with its 5 fantastic churches, or the Armory Museum. There is only one entrance into the Kremlin, and that is over the old brick bridge that is situated in Alexander's Garden, which is also worth a visit. Enjoy your stay, and don't worry, you'll love it here!

10 Reasons Why Russia Can’t Trust Uncle Sam

Hello,

Found another tidbit of information that I thought you might want to read while we are traveling the Ukraine Railways! Starting at 10 and going to number one!
========================================
The West says that it is perplexed by Russia's "aggressive" behavior of late, and suggests that Moscow is desirous to regain its past superpower status, and even a little empire. But if cashing in on oil is imperialism, how do we explain the following U.S. moves:

10. Scrapping the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty -
In December 2001, three months after 9/11, U.S. President George W. Bush told Russian President Vladimir Putin that the U.S. was pulling out of the 1972 ABM Treaty, a Cold War-era document that specifically forbade the development and deployment of anti-missile defense systems. The treaty ensured that signatory nations adhere to the mutually assured destruction (MAD) concept - if you destroy us we will destroy you formula. Yes, it was certainly MAD, but it kept the peace for 30 years. Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld attempted to reassure Moscow that the decision was nothing personal. "It [the treaty] failed to recognize that the Soviet Union is gone and that Russia is, of course, not our enemy." Putin called the move "a mistake."

9. "Mission Accomplished" - On March 20, 2003, the United States - without a mandate from the United Nations, and against the heated objections of France, Germany and Russia - invaded Iraq on the pretext that the secular Baathist state of Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and was a proud sponsor of terrorism. Both accusations were proven wrong. Former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan told the BBC in an interview that the attack was a violation of international law. "From our point of view and the UN Charter point of view, it [the war] was illegal."

8. Pentagon Spending Spree - The United States, which just put the finishing touches on a $583 billion dollar shopping trip for 2008, accounts for about half of global expenditures (or the next 14 nations). However, as Robert Higgs of the Independent Institute argues, "the trillion-dollar defense budget is already here." Higgs calculated that U.S. military-related spending in 2006 was actually $934.9 billion if we figure in Homeland Security ($69.1bln), the Dept. of Energy, which oversees nuclear weapons ($16.6 bln) and the Dept. of Veterans Affairs ($69.8 bln), as well as other juicy pork chops. In May, the Democrat-controlled House and Senate approved almost $95 billion for the ongoing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq through September (Go Dems!). Meanwhile, "aggressive" Russia, with a 48 percent increase in military spending since 1996, still spends ‘just' $85 billion annually on military expenditures.

7. NATO XXL - As Dan Simpson, a retired U.S. diplomat argued in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, "The United States and other NATO members have taken some actions along the way to lull the Russians into acquiescence as NATO expanded to include the former Warsaw Pact nations... The argument was that these countries wanted to join NATO and that their membership posed no threat to Russia. That line prevailed as NATO membership grew to include also Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, former republics of the Soviet Union. Now the Russians see the same argument being advanced for Georgia and Ukraine. That's getting close to home."

6. New Military Bloopers - As the Pakistani government of Gen. Pervez Musharraf struggles to contain the fallout of an 8-day battle against militants at the Lal Masjid (Red Mosque), a U.S. official turned up the heat by telling CNN that if the U.S. "had actionable targets, anywhere in the world," including Pakistan, then "we would pursue those targets." Meanwhile, talk about a possible attack on Iran, a nation that ranked on America's axis of evil hit parade, continues.

5. Think-Tank Saber Rattling - Keir A. Lieber and Daryl G. Press write an article in the prestigious U.S. journal Foreign Affairs entitled "Nuclear Primacy" (March/April 2006), which argues, in a nutshell, that "It will probably soon be possible for the United States to destroy the long-range nuclear arsenals of Russia or China with a first strike." Is this the sort of article that America should be supporting if it wants Russia to believe that elements of the proposed U.S. missile defense system in Poland and... oops! Don't want to spoil the plot! Anyways, Moscow ‘responds' with very accurate penmanship one year later as it test-fires its new RS-24 ballistic missile that it said could "overcome any potential missile defense systems developed by foreign countries."

4. Cheney Comfort - One month after the above love letter hit newsstands, Vice President Dick Cheney, during a trip to Vilnius, Lithuania, assuaged Moscow's fears by reiterating, once again: "Russia has nothing to fear and everything to gain" by ‘democratic activity' on her borders.

3. Gates' Gated Community - In early 2007, Pentagon chief Robert Gates urged viligance when he warned, "We don't know what's going to develop in places like Russia and China, in North Korea, in Iran and elsewhere." Was this a simple case of mistaken identity by a former White House Russian analyst? Whatever the case, it certainly helped to provoke Putin's heated Munich speech in February, where he admonished the world's "one master, one sovereign."

2. EU Culpability - As the War on Terror continues, Europe is losing its Snow White innocence. As the German magazine Der Spiegel reported, "On July 19, 2002, a Gulfstream business jet took off from Frankfurt am Main bound for Amman, Jordan. The flight received an AFTM exempt [pilot code for ‘extreme situation'], although it carried neither patients nor politicians. Instead, the jet was carrying a CIA team that took a Mauritanian terrorism suspect... to Guantanamo." Der Spiegel reported that this "camouflaging of an illegal kidnapping as a rescue flight" was not an isolated event: There were 390 such takeoffs and landings in Germany between 2002 and 2006. And considering Eastern European hotels, it's just too scary to consider those secret terrorist prisons that allegedly exist in Poland and Romania.

1. Don't Worry, These anti-Missile Missiles won't Hurt You, Really - Washington is now incredulous, shocked, mortified that Moscow has the nerve to suggest that there could be less than good intentions involved in the construction of an anti-missile defense system in Poland and the Czech Republic, even though there are no bad-guy technologies on the horizon that such a system could intercept. Go figure!

Russia and U.S. Discuss Joint Use of Radar Site

Hello,

I just popped by to say Hi, I found this article to pass some time away.

========================================

Russia and U.S. Discuss Joint Use of Radar Site

Military experts from the U.S. arrived at the Russian radar station in Gabala, Azerbaijan, on Tuesday to learn more about the proposed site of an anti-missile defense system.

President Vladimir Putin has offered the facility as an alternative to U.S. plans to build a similar system in Eastern Europe. U.S. officials say the system is necessary to counter growing threats in the region, most of all
in Iran.

Before their arrival in Gabala, experts from the U.S., Russia and Azerbaijan held talks at the military base of the Daryal Information and Analysis Center, which is the name that the military now uses for the Gabala radar. The station, built for surveillance of missile launches in the Southern hemisphere, covers a large swath of territory
that includes Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Pakistan, India, China, Australia and a substantial part of the African continent as well as Indian and Atlantic oceans.

Russian and U.S. experts should discuss the possibility of the joint use of the radar and present their conclusions before a meeting between foreign and defense ministers of the two nations. The meeting is scheduled for October.

Putin offered the joint use of the Gabala radar in June this year as an alternative site for the missile
defense system that the U.S. wants to build in Poland and Czech Republic. The U.S. has agreed to consider the offer but so far has not suspended their European program that Moscow sees as a security threat
and a possible trigger for a new arms race.

The U.S. claims that the missile defense sites in Europe will counter missile threats, particularly from Iran. Russia disagrees with their possible future partner. "The most important task now is to react adequately to threats that really exist to the south (of Russia), and not future hypothetical threats of 2020-2025," deputy chief of staff of the Russian Space Forces, Major General Alexander Yakushin, said.

   Russia: Here We Go Again!

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and thinking about the North Pole again. I have several articles and I like the fact that Russia has stirred so much interest up over the North Pole.

I think and will always think, that this is great. It does not matter if it is provable or not. The Russians have stirred the interests of the world with these actions. I have written several articles on this subject.

http://kylekeeton.com/2007/09/
http://kylekeeton.com/2007/08/
http://kylekeeton.com/2007/08/
http://kylekeeton.com/2007/07/

They even say that the Russians can only claim 10-20% of the rights to the area they are claiming. They are saying, that Russia needs to drill deep into the soil to get real samples. They say, that Russia has faked everything. They say and they say and they say.....!

I learned along time ago, the "They Say" are everywhere. They do not like the "They Do".

So I chose to be a "They Do" not a "They Say".

My 2 Rubles worth!

   Russia: Starling!

Hello,

I was savoring my second cup of coffee and was thinking about how excited my wife was to discover Starlings in Russia!

It is not that Starlings are new to Russia, It is the fact that Svet can see them and take pictures of them.

I have thought about what Svet has taught me. Then I realized that Svet is learning from me also. She sees things now, that she would have never looked at before.

I am by nature a person who notices everything. 25 years of being in management, taught me to be aware of my surroundings. It was natural for me to always watch everything in the world!

Svet was raised to mind her own business. She was raised to not worry about what was happening across the street or what the next flat was arguing about. So when I appeared in her life, I brought awareness of the surrounding world. I brought the phrase, "Did You See That???" The response at first was always, "See What?"

Then I noticed that she was saying,"Did You See That?" or "I saw That". That is when I realized that Svet was learning from me.

I am what Svet calls an Extrovert, she is a Introvert. Svet has taught me to calm down in life and relax. I have shown Svet that there is a world out there worth looking at everyday.

What does all this have to do with Starlings? Well, Svet came home with these pictures of the Starlings. She was very excited and happy. You see before this, she always saw only Sparrows. Now she sees Starlings and Sparrows.

Together we are growing and it is fun!

   Russia: Visa Run To Ukraine!

Ukraine Coat Of Arms

Hello,

The morning cup of coffee was exceptional this morning. I thought about many things but the one thing that stood out from all other thinking's was the Visa run.

The final destination is Ukraine, after several calls and information gathered, Ukraine is the easiest place for us to go. The Kiev Russian Embassy was extremely kind and helpful. They would be happy for us to drive to them and get my Visa taken care of. The next benefit is that Svet does not need a visa to travel Ukraine. This is because Ukraine is not part of the European Union. This new European Union rules are what hurts Estonia for getting a Visa there!

This is a blessing for us and we are getting ready this week to leave on Friday (9-28-07). We will then be gone around 2 weeks.

We are hoping to find a Internet kiosk and be able to at least keep some posting done. If not the world will just have to live with out Windows to Russia! I know that I have 100+ articles that most have never read, In the archives.

So I will be posting until Friday, Then we will see!

Sunday: Was A Very Good Day In Russia!

Neighborhood

Hello,

I woke up Sunday and was thinking over my cup of coffee.

I was thinking about the fact, is all this writing worth it?

I was thinking about, does anyone really care?

I started to read the Blogs that I always read, I came to one Blog that I love because I have a secret desire to be a architect. I just never knew how to do it! So I study this mans Blogs because he is so passionate about what he does. He has at least 17 blogs at my last count. The Blog I read the most is TESSELLAR>Blog! By Mazlin Ghazali

To make a long story short, I opened up his web page and there was an article on: Windows To Russia!

http://tsl8.blogspot.com/2007/09/windows-to-russia.html

I was shocked and called for my Wife,Then she read the article and found out that it was about her article on a parable.

She was very happy and I got 10 happy kisses from her. Then I was much happier! :)

Thank You Mazlin! It made our day and gave us that extra push that we all need.

Most of all it let Svet know that she has people that want to read her articles. That makes me the happiest of all!!!!

   Russia: Doves Ride The Metro?

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and thinking about the Pigeons (Dove in Russia).

In Russia you will find them running around the metro station just like the dogs! I wrote a article recently on the Dogs (Собака) that live in the Metro.

http://kylekeeton.com/2007/09/russia-her-dogs-are-everywhere_19.html

I find this interesting, that these Doves are not near an outside entrance. These Doves are way deep in the ground. The doors that you see in the back ground are exit doors from the actual tunnel where the Metro train is. These doors are about three sets of doors and several sets of stairs from being able to go outside.

You will see people hold doors open so that the Doves can walk through!

So not only do dogs and people coexist in the metro, but Doves make a living down in the metro also. :)

I have written several articles on how the people in Russia like their Doves.

http://kylekeeton.com/2007/08/dove-house-nicer-than-most-people-live.html
http://kylekeeton.com/2007/07/russian-dove-pigeon_25.html

So you will not find Russians being mean to these Doves and if you were, I would not want to see the repercussions of your actions.

To a Russian, a living life is precious. Be that life a stray dog, or a hungry Pigeon!

The Babushkas (in this case a elderly gentleman) will share their last meal with the dogs and the Doves.

I give you another aspect of Russia!

Svet Sunday: Witch-Doctors in Russia or Who killed Natasha?

Do you believe in witch-doctors?..

I do not!

I believe that our body can recover itself, I believe that our body is like a river, cells renew constantly and any damage could be corrected by nature and your mind, your mind and great work on yourself.

Natasha died and I'll tell you her story, just part of the story, but maybe it could help someone.

Just now I realize that she never liked doctors. Why? I really don't know, just guess that she was a big girl and doctors might have told her that she needed to have diet and change style of life: more walking and do exercises... Don't really know but think nobody likes to know that you (like you are) are not good enough and need to work on yourself hard. So Natasha did not like doctors and always tried something else, she heard about some witch-doctors, "doctors-psychotherapist" or future-tellers and went to them to ask help to loose weight or to find out the future.

Nobody expected this! But three years ago she really felt bad (she had something with belly, it became too big like drum), so my friends and me persuaded her to go to a hospital /do not forget that we live in Russia and still have free medicine here/. And she was told in hospital that she had cancer (in already 3-4 stage).

Now, I remember that she had "little" problems a year before the doctors told her she had cancer. Her response on her "little" problems was to call her witchdoctor-psychotherapist and she was always told: "It's OK, I will cure it." and Natasha always got relief sooner or later. I still can not understand Natasha had two witch doctors that time, and how they could not know /of course, if we suppose they can know or feel something../ about Natasha's BIG problem - her cancer!

(Please, my reader, if you not feeling good, go to doctor at least sometimes just to know that it is not something really bad!)

What was next... One of these witch-doctors found a doctor in cancer-hospital and they asked her to pay American 2300$ per dropper every 3 weeks. (Remember that is free medical in Russia)

Natasha had the chemo for half a year then she was offered to have a surgery done, but she did not want (she still hoped to have a child one day). Then she met a "Teacher", the "teacher" belonged so-called "School of Casualty" by Goch (Школа Причинности Василия Гоча). He told Natasha very beautiful words, he told her that she has not just physical but 7 thin bodies around physical body. One of these bodies is Body of Casual and that all in the world has Reason to be, and her illness has a reason so he promised "to work on her body of casual and remove the reason of her illness". How I understand this man had a charisma and really could do some things like remove pain... He told Natasha that she must take responsibility for herself by herself. No ultrasound anymore - it's bad for thin body, no chemo - she is already healthy and if she feels something wrong that just because she remember about illness what does not exist in her body anymore... I heard that and did not know what to tell Natasha I knew that was Religious Sect! But how to take away a sweet from baby, how to remove last hope? And Natasha took a decision those became her Way. She tried to study something, she tried to believe that she was healthy now... She was inspirited and happy. And even I've believed she was OK then.

Then terrible thing happened, Natasha called me in February and told that her "teacher" (pupil of Goch) does not want to work with her anymore. She told me that she had "little" problems since December and her "teacher" (pupil of Goch) told that he worked in her Casual Body, corrected all and already told Goch about this. She called him again and told that she had still the same - his reaction was: "I see nothing you think out a problem", after her third call he told that he did not want to work with her because she could not believe. She was so lost then we discussed different thing what to do but she went back to the "teacher" persuaded him to take her back.

She felt really bad last month, when she had a temperature 40C she told that the "teacher" works on her this time. A week before she died the "teacher" told that her body escaped of under control and she needs to go to doctor. I can not imagine what Natasha went through since! But she tried she called her mother and asked her to help pickup things for the hospital. Then she asked her mother to leave. She called emergency and got in the emergency car. Her breath stopped during this ride, they still tried to save her in the hospital and put equipment what breathed for her. Natasha never breathed by herself again she died 3 days later.

When I worked on this article I found these links:
1) That is about the School of Causality...
http://runes.interval.ee/index_eng.html (This link has been canceled.)
http://www.valeology.com/ (This is the new link, but only in Russian language now. They obviously do not want English reading people to see it.)
http://www.wings.aaanet.ru/gotch_en.html
2) This is an article about one man who died from otitis (running ear), people should not die from that. But this man was got to the same sect where Natasha was.
Please read it:

Natasha died and I still believe - believe that our body can recover itself and that our body is like a river.....

   America: Free?

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and thinking about a video that I found. I also read an article about free countries and not free countries. The saying: "The pot, calling the kettle black!" comes to mind.

This is a contradictory situation of existance!

You see: I grew up in America..........................................

I grew up, seeing a world that was very unfair to many people that lived in America. I grew up watching the African American be treated less than dogs.

I grew up in a world that put the American Indian in some of the worst pathetic land in the whole country.

I grew up in a world that when it was found out that this land that was given to the American Indian was rich in minerals and other precious things, they tried and did succeed to remove them.

I grew up in a world that allowed burning crosses in peoples front yards.

I grew up in a world that men are paid more than women.

I grew up in a world that, was so bad that we had to make rules on how to treat nonwhite people.

I grew up in a world that, labeled everyone! (white, black, minority, .....on and on)

I grew up in a world that, had to be politically correct!

I grew up in a world that had separate bath rooms and water fountains for whites and blacks.

I grew up in a world that treated people who were (claimed to be) communist. Like evil demons, then beaten, jailed and murdered.

I grew up in a World that talks down to the Mexican, but will work him in the fields for very little money.

I grew up in a world that dropped the first Atomic Bomb on Humans.

I grew up in a world that allowed white men to kill black men, with no repercussions.

I grew up in a world that with out money you are less than someone.

I grew up in a world that children bring guns to school and kill other kids.

I grew up in a world that Drugs are on every street corner including those near the schools.

I grew up in a world that saw girls at 13 pushing their baby stroller with their baby, and are impregnated with another child.

I grew up in a world that bussed white kids to the inner cities and black kids to the suburbs.

I grew up with open concept class rooms in school, (the only thing you learned was that you could shoot a spit ball 100 feet.)

I grew up with, "In God we trust" then they took "God" away from schools.

I grew up saying the "Pledge of Allegiance". That offended some one and they said no more "Pledge of Allegiances".

I grew up in a world that all men are created equal as long as you do not THINK!

I grew up in a world that if you are rich you can get away with murder.

The world I grew up in, allows most criminals more rights than the average person has.

I grew up in a world that made women fight for their rights before giving them some!

I grew up in a world that said only bad girls smoke, then they discovered that bad girls have money and created cigarette's for them called slims.

I grew up in a world......(How many more examples do you need?)......

Some of these statements are from my past to now.

They all are truths because I have lived them all. America needs to reread the Constitution of the United States!

This video will give you something to think about.

I grew up in a world that I thought was better than what I see on this video!

Russians Have Made Their Claim and They Have Proof!

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and was reading this latest article about the North Pole and Russia planting a flag under it! I have written several articles about this.
http://kylekeeton.com/2007/08/
http://kylekeeton.com/2007/08/

Well: Russia was right and the USA is playing crybaby! I think the USA better get their subs and go plant a flag, real soon!

The real estate, is going fast, up North!
========================================
Arctic seabed 'belongs to Russia'(Moscow Times)
Russian mini-submarine
The Mir-I was used to help plant a Russian flag on the Arctic seabed
A Russian expedition has proved that a ridge of mountains below the Arctic Ocean is part of Russia's continental shelf, government officials have said.

The August expedition planted the Russian flag on the seabed below the North Pole and gathered soil samples.

Russia's Natural Resources Ministry said early test results on the soil samples showed Russia is geologically linked to the Lomonosov Ridge.

The Arctic is thought to be rich in oil, gas and mineral reserves.

"Results of an analysis of the Earth's crust show that the structure of the underwater Lomonosov mountain chain is similar to the world's other continental shelves, and the ridge is therefore part of Russia's land mass," a statement from the ministry said.

Russia's claim to a vast swathe of territory in the Arctic has been challenged by the other nations with territory bordering the ocean - including the US and Canada.

Competition for territorial and economic rights in the Arctic has heated up as melting polar ice caps have opened up the possibility of exploiting the previously inaccessible seabed.

This is why I like Russia, They still believe in the old ways!

There is a saying: "Possession is 9/10s of the law."

Russia: Time to Get New Visa!

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and thinking that very quick, We must go and get me a new Visa!

So the first question that must be answered is: "Which country do we drive to?"

Estonia or Finland! (that's what we have narrowed it down to)

I am voting for Estonia, where as my wife is leaning toward Finland.

I then ask myself which country do I want to get stranded in, if Visa problems arise? I still vote for Estonia, because the cost to live there is much cheaper than Finland. So to me the answer is Estonia.

We have Boza the Bear ready.(our dog) He has his Pet Passport and the new ISO implant put in.(microchip implant). My Wife took him to the vet a few days ago and had him certified to travel the World.

I asked Boza where he wanted to go? He told me "Estonia", of course! :))

This weekend I must go get a HIV test done. It is required for staying over three months at a time. We are also waiting for the Letter of Invitation to arrive any day now..... Then I need also, to get this weekend, Passport sized pictures taken.

We are going to drive to Estonia or Finland and sight see on the way. Svet has to get a Visa herself, to enter either country, I do not! I can stay up to 90 days without a Visa in both countries. In fact a problem with travel in Europe is that Svet needs a Visa to get in any country but I can travel freely.

I think this is unfair.

I will leave more information on what we go through to get a Visa renewed. It might just help someone out that needs to renew in the future.

Update: (We have found out that it may be possible to get the Visa renewed in Ukraine. That would be a shorter trip for us. So now we add another possibility of where to go. We have been to the Ukraine, I still want to go to Estonia!)

   Russia: Her Dogs Are Everywhere!

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and was thinking about the dogs all over the Metro stations of Russia. It just so happens my wife, with her trusty new camera. Took some pictures of the dogs in the Metro and outside the stations.

The people in Russia do really love their Sobak (Собак). They will walk over them, around them and past them but not disturb them. They will feed them and care for them.

These are city dogs. Dogs that have no home but the city streets or in this case, the Metro stations.

When I first came to Moscow I was not very happy to see all these dogs. I asked where is the animal control officers are to clean out these dogs. My Wife looked at me like I was crazy! I quickly understood that these dogs are totally accepted all over the city. They are part of life in Moscow. I have watched them come and go from metro stations, People hold the doors so the dogs can get in and out. When you walk the Metro station you see little plates of food left in the corners for the dogs. The pregnant dogs are given blankets and cardboard to sleep on. The Cобаки are at home in the Metro.

I accept them now and think that it is normal to see dogs sleeping in the middle of the floor in one of the busiest Metros in the world.

That is Russia for you!

That is why I love Russia.

   Russia: Who Might Be President?

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and thinking about what Ludmila a avid reader of our Blog said:" I think most Russians who live abroad don't know who they will vote for. We don't know about life in Russia, because there isn't enough information about the country."

This then is for you to have more information:

Putin has named 5 individuals who might be president.

1. Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov,
2. Yabloko leader Grigory Yavlinsky
3. Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov,
4. Acting First Deputy Prime Ministers Sergei Ivanov and
5. Dmitry Medvedev.

I really like this video and have to show it again. I hear all the time Who Might be President. When I hear that phrase I think of this wonderful video! My wife loves this video and I get a chuckle out of it also.

So here is "Who Might Be President"

So Thanks Ludmila for making me think also, Now we know who Putin thinks can be President!

   Russia's Gazprom: Building New City?

Hello,

On my second cup of coffee today I was thinking of the controversial and beautiful new architect designs that are being submitted for the Gazprom City, to be built soon. The reason so controversial has to do with the fact that this a long range plan by Putin, St. Petersburg is Putin's Home city.

This has some St. Petersburg residence in an uproar, they seem to think that their city is the most beautiful in the world now, mainly due to old world charm. The addition of this new Gazprom City, would take away from the true beauty of St. Petersburg.

"Gazprom City: the future, rather evocatively named St. Petersburg headquarters for Russian energy giant currently the subject of a high-profile design competition. This new "city," however, will just be a cluster of high-tech administrative buildings, although the main tower "is to rise at least 300 meters (985 feet) into the sky and symbolize the growing power of the firm. It is also to be situated just opposite the famed 18th century Smolny Cathedral on the Neva River in historic St. Petersburg." This location has proved rather controversial."

Link to the rest of the Article!

If these designs are incorporated they will be some of the most beautiful buildings that have ever been built.

The winner of the competition for best plans will be announced December 1st, 2007 and the City will be completed by 2016!

Cool!

Lasik Surgery in Russia or Old eyes and New World!

I had a myopia as long as I remember myself. I remember a checking eye in my children garden and how I could see just the first line of pictures on the table and was amazed that another kids could see much more pictures from such distance. I remember myself in school always was sitting at first desk near teacher's table. I remember my errors in control tests, when I could not write down the tasks from the blackboard correctly. And I remember hitting a tree by my forehead at night when I left a fire where we were sitting with friends in our hiking trips, I was not angry with the tree or myself that was just funny: how I could do such! ;)

And I was not alone in such situation: I had a friend sharing with me the same desk for the same reason, and another friend who had myopia -8 and had glasses just -2. Why we were this way: we truly believed that eyes must work and if you start wear glasses eyes addict to it, relax and become even worse then you have. And we always were very independent, did not want to addict to anything: glasses, cigarettes or make up. It's better not to have it at all than one day to suffer because you don't have it, depend on people and companies who will give you their rules if you want to use it.

[They started make eye-surgeries in Russia (then it was Soviet Union, of course) I think 20 years ago. It was not laser surgeries then it was "Micro-surgery of the eye" Svyatoslav Fedorov invented this.

http://www.acs.brockport.edu/~dgusev/Russian/sfbio.html
http://www.mikof.md/en/publication-1.shtml]

Some years ago I met a method to improve sight-seen by exercises but to make it I need very high motivation /like in anything what you want to reach! ;)/. And I started motivated myself why I need better eyes than I have and I really pursued myself! And I started working on myself and got (believe you or not) really good resulted! But then I had some circumstances in my life and needed to stop trainings... Some years later I found out about Lasik Surgeries. I still was very motivated in reaching better eyes. I found out that we have Eye Surgery Clinic in Gazprom (Kyle wrote about Gazprom here) and some of my colleagues already done such.

Really, I had a lot of doubts: my eyes were not perfect but they were my eye! I did not know, could not imagine how I could live after the surgery, could I see the world the same... I discussed this with a lot of people really, but the best understanding and support I've got from Kyle whom I knew just by sms and e-mail that period.

And decision was taken finally I went to Gazprom Eye-Surgery Center, surgery was done. And my first impression: I still have the same eyes but the World around me changed. World became brighter and lighter! All became like on the picture in glamour magazine! Amazing! All people are so beautiful! And everything is so beautiful! Strange feeling in metro when I could see eyes of people on opposite bench in the car (before I've seen just dark shadows on place where people should have eyes), I could read the same book what person read by my side. That was strange, strange, strange and BEAUTIFUL :).

What else I want to tell you in this very long article /what Kyle just told me ;)/. I started to tell this story to my colleagues and friends: a lot of them made it. And everybody came to me to say Thank you and to share with me this incredible experience of New Beautiful World!

If you have some particular questions welcome to our Discussions and I answer you and tell you all what I know myself.

Best Wishes!

Russia: The Father Of All Bombs!

(1st picture Russian FOAB, 2nd picture USA MOAB)

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and was thinking about Russia, That they are reminding the world that they never quit the cold war. I was correct in my earlier posts, that Russia has just been getting their ducks in order so to speak!

This Wednesday 09/12/2007: The Russians exploded the most powerful non nuclear weapon ever made. This was in retaliatory response to the USA's MOAB (Mother of All Bombs)

The Russians call it "The Father of All Bombs!" A vacuum bomb that uses fuel-air explosive, a technology in which special fuel is first sprayed over the target area before it is primed by a small explosion. The result is a huge blast with very high temperatures in the center and extremely powerful shock waves.

The Russian bomb is stated to be four times more powerful than the MOAB made by the USA.

The new bomb is not officially named and does not violate any international treaty. One reason it does not violate any treaty is because it is a bomb that until now was thought to be impossible to build. Due to its air dispersing properties. The Russians say that advanced Nano technology has been used in the design.

So here are my thoughts, The Russians are not sitting back and letting the USA just be the only ones to play with Army Toys! The Russians are very much into development and restructuring the Armed Forces. The Russians hope that the USA will listen to the hype and noise that obscures the reality and give them the time to complete the restructuring of its internal systems.

Once again I will say:"Russia was the Soviet Union, Russia never fell, just stumbled. Putin is leading the country back to its former glory. I think the USA needs to be Friends not Foes."

Just my 2 Rubles worth.

Russian People want Putin To Stay?

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and was thinking about the upcoming election in Russia.

The Presidential Election!

What I hear out and about in Moscow is that Russians are happy and they do not want, "The boat rocked."
So to say! They are content. Well I found this article that comes from this side of the world. It gives very good information on the attitudes of the upcoming election.

"Recent gauges of public opinion have revealed an unusual paradox: every fifth Russian trusts front runners Dmitry Medvedev and Sergei Ivanov. However, if the election were to be held next Sunday, both would lose, getting a mere 2-3 percent of the vote. This is a clear sign that Russians want no one else but Vladimir Putin to be their President." Indifference to Putin’s successors is a sign that Russians are becoming less interested in politics." It was also said, "The authorities allow citizens to paint their fences and watch football, that’s why they think there’s no need to be interested in politics,” complained Dmitry Oreshkin, an independent expert. Following a surge of political activity in the 1990s, followed by disappointment in democratic ideas, Russia is now going through a period of “mental relaxation”, Ireshkin said, adding that people would not hesitate to vote for Putin or anyone he points out." (source RBC)

I see first hand that the Russian people overall are content. That they have less grumblings going on than in the past. Like every large and growing country you will always have dissent voices. Those voices seem mostly to come from across the ocean trying for fame and glory!

There now you have more information on the President of Russia!

   The Russian собака? (Sobaka)

Hello,

On my second cup of coffee I was thinking of the one dog that I see more often than any other in Moscow Russia.

The dachshund (Teckel). This little dog is very dear to the hearts of Russians. You go for a walk and you will probably see 10 to 12 of these little dogs protecting their owners from all the bad things in life! :)

My wife did not believe me at first, but she now has noticed that dachshunds are everywhere. They come in brown, red, black, and brindle! They are short haired and long haired. So now she is starting to take pictures of them.

I owned a Wiener dog and she was considered a toy miniature, long red haired Dachshund.
Her name was Sneaky the Binky: She came over from America with me.

Link to Sneaky Binky! She lived to be 18 years old!

Now you know another reason why I like Russia!

They love Wiener Dogs!

Only in Russia: Learn How To Be A Moscovite!

This is what you will see driving around Moscow, beautiful new buildings and high speed free ways!

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and thinking about a man from Ukraine that has lived in Moscow since the 1980's. His name is Daonag!

He gives lessons to people who are new to Moscow about being a Moscovite!

Daonag Says:"Moscow does not know how to lament anything," He also says:"There is no pity in Moscow. Moscow will respect you if you present yourself firmly, if you have your own strength and personality. But if you do nothing but cry, Moscow will reject you."(Moscow times)

I understand this need. The open arms of Moscow are not apparent when you first arrive. This just helps compound the fears that you have already conjured from reading the American view point of Russia.

I had read an article before I left America. From the State Department of the United States of America. This article told me clearly that Russia was a unsettled country and that the Embassies in Russia can offer very little assistance if you get in trouble. The article went on to say that police in Russia are notorious for causing Americans many problems, such as taking you down to local police stations and interrogating you. (Now that made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.)

I found all this was very untrue. I have found that the Russian is a warm, inviting, and caring person. I have also found out that the police are shocked most of the time when they realize that they have just stopped a American. They have never bothered me while walking, just when driving our car.

I found that there was a lot of untruths on the Internet about Russia and her people. That is one of the reasons that I started this web site, To let People in the World know that Russia has a heart & soul.

I find that there is a real need for someone to help new comers adjust to Moscow or Russia for that matter. (I had my Sweetie)

Not because Russia will be devastating to your existence! But because you have & need to learn a new set of manners plus different lifestyle.

   9-11 in America!

I still remember what I was doing when America was attacked by terrorists. (Do you remember?)

I was feeling sorry for myself because my now ex-wife had left me the night before, for another man.

When the attack happened, I did not feel sorry for myself any more.

My problems were minor compared to what happened at the World Trade Center.

I remember everyone flew a American Flag. Everyone had flags everywhere.

Lets hope that no one in the World suffers that kind of loss again.

I gave a moment of silence today, I remembered 9-11. (Did You?)

If America and Russia would work together, Terrorism would be gone.

That is my 2 Rubles worth.

   Russia: Never Lost Her Power!

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and I was thinking about how different the stories that the media presents, as you transverse the World.

I read and listen to so called experts on Russia and Capitalism! I read about how Russia lost all her Super Power Status and became so much less than the USA. I read about how Putin has destroyed Capitalism and wants Imperialism in its place. I have read that there is a New Cold War. I have read that Russia violates Human rights.......................etc etc etc.

Wanna know What?

It is the biggest pile of BULL that has come along for a long time. Russia is no different than any country in the World including the US of A.

I spent 47 years in the Land of Free! I have a little knowledge of America.

1. Russia violates Human Rights: What I see living here, yes Russia does violate Human Rights but the USA is no better and very open about it. (Link to Bad case of Rights Violation in USA). There are thousands of cases like this and most are swept under the table.

2. Putin has destroyed Capitalism and the vote for Russian President is preset. (this is surprising to a capitalist country???) This is a good one for the USA to talk about, The USA needs to clean their cupboards before they accuse. After the last few fiscals that we call, The Presidential Elections, in America. I have no desire to vote this time. I feel that the president is already picked out for the American people and signed sealed and delivered before election! (link to article) Do you think the term "King George" (George Bush) is a fallacy?

3. The New Cold War! Who said the Old Cold War ended! Not Russia, I do not ever remember the Russian people saying to the world, "zippy yea, the Cold War is over" If I remember, America was saying:"zippy yea, the Cold War is over." Just maybe Russia has been sitting back trying to get the country under control from the upheaval during the the fall of the Soviet Union. We forget that Russia was the Soviet Union. They have kept the same mind set, just put prettier bows and ribbons on the package.

4. Russia not a Super Power! They have the most violent weapons on Earth. The less sophisticated but immensely more powerful nuclear missiles and bombs, make the USA think twice before they would push Russia too far. Very good Link to a Russian Nuclear Bomb. Russia may have a messed up Military at this moment, but they can still destroy the world 100 times over. In my book that makes them a Super Power....

The bottom line is that America has a media system that plays games with everyone in the World. It has got to be one of the most controlled and bias reporting systems that any country has. Russia is far from perfect, but the USA is just as far from perfect!

I truly see only small differences between the countries. If Russia is doing it, the USA is doing it also, or vice a versa.

The one big difference that I see is: Putin is doing a much better job at running Russia, than Bush has running the USA!

From Russia: An Expats Parable by Svetlana!

Svet's Expats parable:

Hello,
I've heard this parable from my Teacher a long time ago...
Now I decided to retell the story for You. Who knows it might be helpful to somebody in their life.
============================
Imagine an old oriental town, an old man is sitting and enjoying the sunny day near the town's gate. A shepherd with his sheep is watching this scene:

A tired stranger comes to the old man, sits down near him and asks the old man: "Please, tell me about the town, what kind of people live here?" The old man then said "First, tell me about your place and from where you have come." The stranger replied, "Really, nothing to tell - it was old, dirty and a boring town. People who lived there were evil and nasty, just quarrels and scandals every day." "Well,"-said the old man - "It is sad to tell, but here you'll find the same. A dirty, boring town and people here is not better than in place what you just left". The stranger then sat a little bit with the old man, ate his breakfast then he left.

Some hours later another stranger came to this old man to ask about this town and the people who live in this town. This old man was not in a hurry to answer this question. He just asked the stranger a question back. About his place where he had come from. The stranger said "Oh, it was a wonderful place, so quiet and peaceful! And people who lived there: they were so kind and nice to me, we became such great friends and we even cried when I had to leave!" The old man replied "Don't worry, stranger - you'll find new friends in this town and find this town the same peaceful and quiet. Just go on in!"

The sun started to go down and the shepherd his sheep to go back to the town, he stopped near the old man and asked him why he gave such different answers to these two strangers.

"I did not lie to them." Responded the old man."The truth is that in each place that you visit you will find the same circumstances as the place you left. You will also find in this world, just who you are. Also that there is no way to find something different in the world. Till you change yourself. For you always bring your world with you".
=============================

This parable is for people who wants to find greener grass in new places - believe me, that's improbable... But maybe, You will find it! Because when you just got this thought to go somewhere else, you may be already changed yourself. Then you can become a New Person.

Who knows... :)

My best wishes for All!

Russia's Gazprom: The World Within the World!

Hello,

I was thinking this morning and it was not over a cup of coffee! It was a cup of chicory, Yes a big cup of chicory! So here is why I was drinking chicory (other than the fact I ran out of coffee).

1. Chicory is more soluble in water than coffee, which means you use a lot less of it when brewing. Very economical for someone on a tight budget. (I want coffee)

2. Chicory also offers extra health benefits that you wouldn't normally get from your cup of coffee. It is reported to help cleanse the blood and improve the health of your liver. (well my cardiologist is happy)

3. To see if I can still think, with out coffee. :)

Now to the thinking's part. My wife was taking pictures again. This time she found a new victim. Her work place, Gazprom. Svet works at one of the largest banks in Russia, The Gazprom Bank, which is part of the Gazprom Gas and Oil. Which is owned by the Federal Government of Russia.

To tell you Gazprom thinking, read this statement. "(Deputy chief executive, Alexander Medvedev, said: "We will reach a $1,000bn market capitalization in a period of seven to ten years. We'd like to be the most-valued and most-capitalized company in the world.")(World News)"

Svet was telling me that the Gazprom area in Moscow is a world all its own. It is park like and has protected housing, from the outside world. It has its own hospital, and many other magnanimity's. Svet was also telling me that it is the closet thing to Socialism in Russia now. (I hope that I got that correct, she will correct me if I did not)

I just thought that you might want to see the third largest company in the world, at least the visible side of the company.

Facts: The future of Gazprom
"Gazprom is on the way to displacing Irving, Texas-based ExxonMobil Corp as the world's biggest company, now valued at $381 billion. General Electric is currently the second-biggest at $358 billion. Gazprom employs 330,000 people and supplies more than 8% of Russia's GDP.(Asian News)"

Until today I had no idea that Gazprom was that big, Looks like we need to invest in Russian Oil and Gas!

   Russia: Her Children's Railroads!

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and reading a news paper that my Wife brought home to me. (Yes, I can read)

There was a particular article that caught my attention because it was not typical news, like death and destruction. It was about the Children Trains that were built during the Soviet era.

The way I understand the purpose of these Railways, is that Teenagers are taught the skills of Engineering on a Train. The Children's Railroads were started because the rail business in Russia (CCCP) has always been so large that they needed a manpower pool to get a constant supply of employees.

This is a list of the children trains in Russia still functioning!
"A children's railway is an extracurricular educational institution, where teenagers learn railway professions. This phenomenon originated in the USSR and was greatly developed in Soviet times. The world's first children's railway was opened Moscow, in Gorky Park[1] in 1932. At the breakup of the USSR, 52 children's railways existed in the country.

Many children's railways are still functioning in post-Soviet states and Eastern European countries. Examples include a children's railway in Minsk, one in Yaroslavl and many other cities."(Wikipedia)

I found this very interesting and never knew such places existed until today. I wish that I had such an opportunity when I was a teenager. I would have taken advantage of the opportunity to become a Engineer on a Train.

I keep saying that I learn something new everyday!

   Russia: Church and Nuclear Weapons?

Hello,

I found several articles today on the subject of Russian Churches and blessing the Nuclear Weapons. I think that this has been taken out of context for sensationalism. (Many Churches have long believed that the world will end with the "Apocalypse".) Now according to accounts, the Russian Orthodox Church Blessed Nuclear bombs.
Lets look at some facts:

"This week, the Russian Orthodox Church gave its blessing to the men and women who control the Nuclear Weapons. Priests chanted prayers in honor of the 12th Main Directorate, which is responsible for the storage and maintenance of the country's nuclear arsenal. 200 men and women dressed in uniforms with a atom logo on their sleeves, occasionally crossed themselves as Bishop Amvrosy of Bronnitsy, led the Blessing service. The bishop concluded by reading a congratulatory message from Patriarch Alexy II. "I congratulate you on this memorable anniversary and I raise prayers to God and to the venerable Serafim of Sarov that the nuclear weapons created by you and entrusted to you will always be in God's hands, and will only be weapons of deterrence and retaliation.""

Sounds like they blessed the people in charge of the Nuclear weapons. (That makes sense to me)

Now the church views nuclear weapons as something of a deterrent factor for the Russian state and the rest of the World. The history of the past 15 years shows that Russia's nuclear capability helped it remain an independent state and helped control an ambitious USA. The church views the weapons themselves as evil but a necessary evil! (The history of the Cold War era shows that the two Super Powers were stalemated.)

This same stance was in America also, The Catholic Church has made it well known that weapons are evil but if used correctly they are a deterrent to war.

Nuclear Weapons have been considered the end of man kind, (after the initial bombing of Japan.) The results of the bombings, let the world know that subsequent usage of such weapons would result in the destruction of Humanity as we know it.

So as I see it, This is a normal part of typical Church and Military relationships. Granted this relationship was broken and or hidden for many years in Russia. Now though, the ties with Church and State are growing stronger in Russia and this is a sign that the bond is stronger than in the past.

I think that is a good thing.

   Russia: Her Drivers!

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and I was thinking of the other day about how mad I got at another driver. The Russian driver is like the American driver, they only care if they get where they are going and will they run over you in the process.

In America Road Rage is well known, there have been many shootings on the roads of America over dumb and stupid happenings.

In Russia the same thing happens: The Russian driver will come up behind you and ride on the tail of your car. Then he will honk, flash his lights and even drive into oncoming traffic to pass you. They endanger all around them. The other day I was traveling 100 km per hour in a 60 km per hour zone. I was passing cars and going at the pace of traffic. Then behind me appears a SUV that wants to go 200km per hour. (mind you we are speeding anyway) He flashes his lights, he honks his horn and he tries to pass me on both sides of the road. The traffic that is coming at us is swerving to miss him and a wreck could happen. I accelerate to 130 km and he gets enough room to pass on my right. Now as he passes, he gives me the famous middle finger.(yes they use it in Russia also)

When I was raised, If you use that finger, you better be able to back it up! At this point I was going to stomp a Russian Butt.

But....., His car was much faster than mine. :((

Now my wife is calmly talking on her cell phone and not getting excited about anything.

That is when I realized how stupid I was being to go to his level. With me having had 6 heart attacks and such, does not seem like I was too smart.

So I have made up my mind that, Russian drivers are as stupid as American drivers!

To expound farther, In Russia they have what is called blue lights. A car with these Blue Lights has the right away to go any speed and break all laws. The cops never pull over a Blue Light.

So It looks like that in Moscow there are a lot of Blue Light wannabes, They just do not have the Blue Light.

Reminds me of the Blue Light special at K-Mart!

Just my two Rubles worth!

Here is an article by Moscow Times:
=============================
""Driver Shot In the Hip After Tirade:

A shouting match over who had the right-of-way ended with one driver shooting the other in the hip in southern Moscow, police said Tuesday.

The 36-year-old injured driver told police that he was driving his Toyota Land Cruiser on Khavskaya Ulitsa on Monday evening when a Lada sedan tried to cross the street in front of him. The cars stopped bumper to bumper, and neither would give way to the other, a city police spokesman said.

The two drivers started throwing insults, and the Lada driver finally shot the other driver in the hip and fled, the spokesman said.

The injured driver, who was not identified, was hospitalized with a gunshot to the left hip. Police heard his account after being alerted that a patient had been admitted with a gun wound.

Police are looking for the Lada driver, who could face four to seven years in prison if convicted on charges of armed hooliganism.

The police spokesman said the attack was the first registered incident of road rage this year.

A minor traffic accident on Volochayevskaya Ulitsa in October resulted in manslaughter. An argument between a male and female driver over the fender bender ended with the man pushing the woman into the busy street, only to see her get killed by a passing truck. In August 2005, a driver jumped from his car and fatally beat a truck driver after the truck driver repeatedly tried to pass his car on Volgogradsky Prospekt. In March 2005, a man died and another was injured in a shooting following a car crash on a bridge across the Bittsa River, 25 kilometers south of Moscow.""(The Moscow Times)

   Russia: Svet & Her Camera!

Hello,

I was thinking again but no coffee this time. I was drinking Diet Pepsi, Yummy!

I told the world that I bought my wife a new camera and she loves it. I also told the world that no one is safe now, that she has a camera. (sorta like a kid in a candy store)

Well now Svet has brought pictures of the new architect that is being built in Moscow. Russia is replacing older flats that were built in an era that needed quick housing. (Other words the buildings are falling down around the people living in them.)

I think, she took really good pictures and I am going to post them, this gives you an idea of what Moscow looks like.

I am also going to post pictures of a car wreck that Svet took. (I told you know one is safe!)

It is a wreck between a car and a bus.

Now I am showing these to you because in Russia no matter how small the accident you do not move your vehicles. You keep them where they are at until the Road Police show up. Bad thing is it could be 2-3 hours or more before the Road Police show up. So no matter how bad you block traffic you do not pull out of the way. (as you can see this was not a bad accident)

So now you know a little more about life in Russia.

   Russian: MADMAX!

Hello,

This morning as I was drinking my cup of coffee, I thought about the place we discovered yesterday near the hospital that we visited. Link: Hospital

Many of you might remember Mad Max, with Mel Gibson. Well if you do then you will recognize this place. This is the Russian version of Mad Max!

It is a motorcycle shop, Bar and restaurant. Someone has gone to a lot of trouble to create a duplicate of the Mad Max movie.

My Wife and I stopped and took pictures. I do not think she has ever seen the movies but she loved the look of the place.

So to you Mad Max fans here is a Russian version of Mad Max, Enjoy!

   Russian Weekend!

Hello,

The Day of Moscow, Did not end up being a wild weekend for us. (we are not very wild anyway)

The weekend was spent dealing with a situation with a friend who is hospitalized. So we did not go looking for the festivals.

We spent Sunday looking for the hospital that the friend was in. We did find the Hospital and was not able to see her. The doctor was available and talked with Svet about the prognosis.

We left and since the roads to the center of Moscow were blocked we gave up trying to find the festivities downtown! So we decided to go home.

Then we came upon something that made the whole weekend better. That's my next article, as I drink my second cup of coffee! :)

Kyle

PS: Moscow is 860 years old and the whole city was covered in flags and special signs like the ones I showed you in the pictures.
